Our Cattery We live in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon on six and a half acres of property comprised of a small orchard and a seasonal stream. We are about an hour and a half south of Portland. We installed a large outdoor enclosure with natural trees, swings, bridges, and flowing fountains for our males, and for times of breeding. Our parent’s live on the property along with us giving us access to a two-home set-up for our cats and kittens so they are always immersed in a family and household setting. All of our facilities are regularly cleaned and disinfected to prevent spread of infectious disease. The health, safety, and happiness of our cats is paramount to our program.
Our Philosophy Bengals are our passion. We endeavor to maintain a breeding program that lives up to the highest ethical standards. We abide by the TICA Voluntary Code of Ethics. This is a list of commitments meant to ensure that registered catteries adhere to strict moral and ethical principles regarding the care, breeding, and sale of cats and kittens. In addition to being a TICA registered cattery, we are also members of the Bengal Cat Club, a peer-led organization dedicated to maintaining ethical breeding standards, standards of sale, and expectations of maintenance of health in the cattery. We are also excited to be partnered with Trupanion Pet Insurance. This requires agreement to a commitment regarding veterinarian-guided breeding schedules, regular routine and preventative veterinary healthcare, maintenance of medical records, and providing support to the new owners of our kittens. We are proud to have made this commitment and structure our breeding program standard operating procedures around it.
Our Mission The goal of Valley Cats Bengals is to uphold the original aspirations of the pioneers of the Bengal breed development. We strive to raise a cat with the exotic features of the wild Asian Leopard Cat that the Bengal is descended from with the temperament of a household cat.
Our History Our family has always had a distinct fascination for the Bengal. I was introduced to my first Bengal cat as a child where my affinity for the breed began. In recent years our family, being avid animal lovers, gravitated even more so to the Bengal breed due to their hypoallergenic properties and the presence of cat allergies within our family. We adopted our first breeding pair in 2014 and we have been enamored with Bengals and there captivating natures ever since. In 2017, we added our first human baby to the family who is now just as enchanted with our kittens. She is our very own kitten whisperer. Then, twins joined our growing tribe in 2019. Our children are taught the respect and care owed to these animals, while our kittens are exposed to a family routine so that they will easily fit with their adoptive families.
